Our Largo, FL facilities cater to each facet of forensic practitioner education, from classrooms to laboratories to mock crime scenes, and can be configured to simulate a variety of settings. Parking
Entering the Bardmoor Palms complex from Bryan Dairy Road, you will observe a roundabout. Parking is available in any unmarked spot or the covered parking garage. Enter the building using the stairs, then proceed up to the 2nd floor, Suite 250.
Hours of Operation
The facility is open for normal business hours weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Class start and end times may vary. Please contact your instructor or liaison with questions.
Holidays and Closures
Our department follows the FIU holiday schedule (2026). Weather-related closures will be communicated to all students and posted on our social media accounts when in effect. Local weather conditions ->
Access
We are a secured facility. Pick up the phone outside the front desk upon your arrival to be buzzed in. Present your photo ID and state the reason for your visit. All visitors are assigned an access badge which is active during regular business hours. The badge must be worn and visible at all times.
All access-controlled doors must remain closed and secured and never propped open. Each visitor must individually badge in at any access-controlled doors. Badge sharing and piggy-backing are forbidden. If your badge is lost or stolen, please report it immediately to your sponsor.
At the end of your visit, please return the badge to your sponsor or the front desk.
Facilities
Our breakroom includes 2 refrigerators, 1 freezer, and multiple microwaves available for visitor use. Any food items left over the weekend will be removed and thrown out. Beverages are allowed in classrooms and conference rooms, with a lid. Disposable cups and lids are provided. No food nor drink is permitted inside the laboratories.
Snack and beverage vending machines are available, and accept both cash and cards.
WiFi is available throughout the facility. Access credentials are posted in each conference and training room.
Restrictions and Safety
Our facility includes designated controlled areas with restricted access. An escort may be required if you travel outside your assigned meeting or training areas (excluding to and from break rooms, restrooms, and entrances/exits). Security cameras monitor building entrances for the safety of visitors and staff.
Per safety policies, all visitors to the laboratories must wear long pants (to the feet) and closed-toe shoes or they may be denied entry.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency evacuation, all personnel and visitors must immediately exit the building and gather in the designated assembly area in the south parking lot. No one may re-enter the building until the “All Clear” is given by the Fire Department or Safety Officer. To report emergencies, unsafe conditions, or suspicious activities, or to request special assistance, please contact the Front Desk at (727) 395-2511.
Prohibited Items
Items that can be used as weapons are prohibited on FIU property. These include, but are not limited to, guns or other projectile weapons, explosives or ammunition, knives (other than pocketknives), disabling chemicals or gases, and stun guns/shocking devices. Download policy document ->
Cameras and Recording Devices
Video and audio recording is discouraged and use of these devices is restricted during certain events. For more information, please see your sponsor or instructor.
Safety
- Use of devices that cover both ears simultaneously (e.g., earbuds, headsets, etc.) is prohibited in the warehouse.
- Personal hearing protection is permitted.
- Smoking is prohibited in any FIU building. Designated smoking areas are available outside.
- All safety procedures and proper usage practices are to be followed while using hazardous materials and equipment.
- If you see an unsafe situation, please immediately report the issue to your sponsor.
